a digital collage series aiming at translating each chapter from the beloved children’s book platero y yo, by Juan Ramon Jimenez, into an stereoscopic animated GIF ‘wigglegram‘. there are 107 chapters in the book so no doubt i’ll enjoy ample opportunity to experiment with some fun ideas before it’s finished. there’s a tumblr blog set up HERE with the GIFs plus the text of each chapter.

in november of 2011 a contingent of militant students briefly occupied a study space at the New York New School, expressing all manner of political opinions with exuberant splashes of graffiti. the students were violently opposed to photography in the space but facing the likelihood of immanent eviction finally consented to my request to document the art eruption minus any identifiable figures. so far as i’m aware these photos are the only extant public visual record of what happened.

late october 2011 i resolved to pay an open-ended visit to new york’s zuccotti park, fascinated by the bacchanalian / populist occupy wall street protests. eventually sleeping there with hundreds of others, i managed to get mixed up in the business of the press relations working group. early one morning some daily show producers came by the desk and asked for a zuccotti tour, a request i was pleased to fulfill. later they asked if i minded performing the same on camera with samantha bee, i said sure. thus the 15 seconds of fame warhol foretold as future birthright literally came to pass.

my mother and stepfather reside in the countryside along the james river, just east of springfield, missouri. since supermarket food appears trending ever more expensive / compromised by dubious industrial farming techniques and genetic modification, we decided now’s a good time to begin growing our own stuff. comprehensive calculation tools / plans provided free by SimplyDifferently.org, specifically this page. amazing structural system courtesy the visionary genius of buckminster fuller.

*postscript : a series of tornadic storms sweeping across the midwest in early march 2012 destroyed this structure! life can be unpredictable like that, evidently.
