diodani fresnel monolith
i’ve always been fascinated by fresnel lenses, so when i was living in hyuga city it seemed a good idea to share the fascination with the children of diodani elementary school by constructing this monolith. it consists of about one hundred 8.5″X11″ ‘bug eye’ screens, each of which has a grid of rectangular lenses etched into clear plastic vinyl, all held together with packing tape and suspended via fishing line. the installation lasted only one day but the kids seemed to enjoy interacting with it, and i was satisfied.
